In addition to fire fighting operations Blackcomb Aviation provides forestry support services in tree planting, silviculture, heli logging, wildlife management, and environmental surveys.

Blackcomb’s specialty skills include grapple logging, air calling, fire fighting, timber cruising, drip torch, water bucketing, and tree planters. Aircraft used for forestry support services are 355 (Twinstars FX + F2), 205++, 206, 407, 350 Super D + 350B2 (A-stars), 206L, and EC120.

All Blackcomb rotary pilots undergo recurrent annual training to maintain proficiency in HETS (helicopter external transport system) training. Long lines, nets and sling gear are provided by Blackcomb Aviation.
