Blackcomb Aviation has a strategic base network designed to serve IPP operations along BC’s west coast and interior. This includes Blackcomb bases in Vancouver, Victoria, Sechelt, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, and Bridge River Valley. Additionally, Blackcomb’s pilots and management team have significant and longstanding expertise in managing the logistics of aerial support to remote locations, a key component in IPP project management.
Blackcomb pilots have specialized training in touch and go landing procedures, pull buggy, marker balls, pull hard line and sock line, glass change (live line), pole setting, timber change, spacer change, reinforcing steel towers, line patrol, vegetation patrol, tree removal with grapple, picking conductor, and cross arm change.
The aircraft utilized by Blackcomb for IPP work includes 355 (Twinstars FX + F2), 205++, 206, 407, 350 Super D + 350B2(A-stars), 206L, and EC120. Specialized training programs for pilots include touch and go, HETS, Flying in the Wire Environment courses, hover exit, and long lining, 250 ft. Blackcomb provides long lines, nets, sling gear and touch & go wands.
